    A solid collection moving through funk, fusion and '70s jazz, Funky Milestones includes classics like James Brown's "Funky President," Rick James' "Super Freak," Cameo's "Word Up," Funkadelic's "One Nation Under a Groove," Curtis Mayfield's "Move on Up" and the Brothers Johnson's "Stomp." A few bizarre versions -- "Inner City Blues" by Larry Coryell? "The Theme from Shaft" by Bernard Purdie? -- of funk classics undermine this collection a bit, though it's still more than worthwhile for fans. ~ Keith Farley, All Music Guide
