Not to be confused with Profile's Diggin' in the Crates series, Hot Productions' Diggin' the Crates takes on a theme with each volume. The fourth volume compiles rare disco tracks that have either been sampled or should be sampled by rap producers. Some remained underground for a reason, but others have been heard by too few. Cloud One's "Disco Juice," Jesse Green's "Nice and Slow," Ingram's "Mi Sabrina Tequana," Martin Circus' "Over and Over" (incorrectly credited to Disco Circus, which was actually the title of Martin Circus' most notorious track), Shades of Love's "Keep in Touch (Body to Body)," Jackie Moore's "Love Is the Answer," and Caviar's "Never Stop Loving You" are featured. As the title of the series indicates, the selections are more likely to be geared toward seasoned fans -- as opposed to those who are just beginning to retrace the history of disco and rap music. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
