Vinny Golia

For this colorful and explorative set, multireedist Vinny Golia performs in a quintet with all of the members of his two trios of the period: trombonist John Rapson, pianist Wayne Peet, bassist Roberto Miranda and drummer Alex Cline. The musicians were among L.A.'s best (Miranda has long been an underrated great), and Golia keeps the proceedings (comprised of six of his originals) continually interesting by switching between clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano, tenor, baritone, bass flute and alto flute.
