Submit Your ReviewThe second release from the Karaoke Kalk label is a five-track slab of acceptably ponderous electronica in a the vein of Cologne-based artists such as FX Randomiz, Markus Schmickler, and 8m2 Stereo. Also vaguely similar to some of Mouse On Mars' rhythmic abstractions circa Iaora Tahiti (though minus the excessive sampling), Val Wok is an exceptional collection of tracks clearly inspired by dance music structures without coming anywhere near the dancefloor. Recommended particularly to fans of minimal beat-abusers such as Freeform and Farmers Manual. ~ Sean Cooper, All Music Guide
