    All Music Guide Review

With two Stevie Wonder covers and a Curtis Mayfield cover taking up a third of the ten tracks on this 2004 reissue of BMG's 2000 Greatest Hits compilation, one could hardly call this anything labeled definitive or greatest hits. Spanning the Main Ingredient's most prolific years during the early '70s, their most well-known songs are here, including "Everybody Plays the Fool," "Just Don't Want to Be Lonely," and the haunting "The Girl I Left Behind." The group's devoted fans will most likely already own most of this material, but listeners just discovering the group's soulful crooning will find this a reasonable and economically sensible place to start. ~ Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
