    All Music Guide Review

    This 12-track snapshot of Sun's eight-album career starts with their biggest hit, "Sun Is Here," a light funk piece with easy lyrics sung lazily over a choppy backbeat, which is pretty much the Sun sound. "Right Kind of Magic" features a female lead doing a good job on an average song; the edgy feminine voice is a welcome change from the monotonous, nondescript, unison, male vocals that give their songs a same old, same old feeling. The funkiest tune "Legs" is a lightweight compared to what P-Funk and others were doing. Sun never offends or challenges your mind; they cut cute, predictable funk like "Turn the Music Up" and the hesitating, techno "Fallout, on the Dance Floor." A live version of "Sun Is Here," thankfully, brings Best of Sun to a yawning end. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
