Hip-hoppers with a sense of humor are always something of a mixed blessing, but Dan Greenpeace and DJ Yoda (who are responsible for such previous nuggets of ethnic musical thuggery as Jews Paid and Jewbonics) manage to keep things, er, real by means of both genuinely funny jokes and genuinely slamming hip-hop selections from both the U.S. and their native Britain. Their tastes tend towards elephantine, heavy-rolling grooves such as "Ten Times" by Copywrite and Mystro's "Open Mic, Part 2," both of which also illustrate Greenpeace and Yoda's penchant for manically articulate rapping. What's surprising are the interludes and skits, which are usually nothing more than an annoyance on a hip-hop record but here offer generally very enjoyable snippets of old-school sampling and dextrous turntable flourishes. The best track is the last, though -- an extended "megamix" of 1980s rap gems from the likes of Boogie Down Productions, Cold Crush Brothers and Castle D.
