    All Music Guide Review

Though Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous isn't quite as quirky as the soundtrack for the first Miss Congeniality film, it's a more consistent collection that still has its fair share of personality. A mix of vintage disco, soul, and pop with a handful of newer, girl-powered pop singles, the collection hangs together well, especially with track pairings like Natasha Bedingfield's "I'm a Bomb" and Pink's "Trouble." Carl Carlton's "She's a Bad Mama Jama," the Ohio Players' "Fire," the Staple Singers' "I'll Take You There," and Ike & Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" are some of the reliably great classics included on the album, while Esthero's "Wikked Lil' Grrrls" is the standout contemporary track, a slinky, sexy strut boasting an irresistible clarinet sample. Paul Anka's "(You're) Having My Baby" and Liza Minnelli's live version of "Cabaret" add a bit of sentimental sparkle; only Spiderbait's "Black Betty" -- which kind of sounds like a louder, more macho version of Rednex's "Cotton-Eyed Joe" -- feels out of place. Nevertheless, this is an enjoyable soundtrack; it may not offer a whole lot of surprises, but it doesn't make too many mistakes, either. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
