    All Music Guide Review

    Better Than a Biscuit is stylistically similiar to Faces, finding John Berry moving ever closer to middle-of-the-road pop territory and leaving country behind. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, since Berry's voice is strong and charismatic, but the lack of strong country influences leaves the album somewhat homogenous -- even the uptempo dance numbers sound a little too polished for their own good. Still, the best moments on the record -- such as "The Stone" and his duet with Wynonna, "We Can't Unmake Love" -- rank among the best contemporary country and make the album a worthwhile endeavor for fans. ~ Thom Owens, All Music Guide
