Half of Anthony Thistlethwaite's third solo album Crawfish & Caviar was recorded in Louisiana, half was recorded in St. Petersubrg, so it shouldn't be entirely surprising that the record is an intoxicating mixture of straight-ahead American folk and traditional Russion folk. There's an exuberance and energy to this music that makes it sound fresh and exciting, and it's certainly one of the more compelling contemporary folk records of 1997. ~ Thom Owens, All Music Guide
