Hurricane's second album, Severe Damage, impoves on is debut The Hurra by offering harder, more imaginative beats that are based on old-school rhythms, yet are grittier and funkier. The rapping remains a bit of a problem -- Hurricane might be a hell of a DJ, but he's a little awkward rapping and his lyrics often are cliched -- but the sheer musical force of the album makes it a worthwhile listen. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
