Spacetime Continuum's first release in over two years is REALtime, a five-song EP. Even if you fail to recognize the funky attitude portrayed by the cover graphics, you'll certainly recognize it in the music. The new direction is inspired by Jonah Sharp's own "Swing Fantasy" track on the 1996 remix album rEmit rEcaps. The fearless, vibrant bassline in "Microjam" is the musical middle on the disc, which ranges from the subtle mood in "Freelon" to the intense beats in "Pressure Live" and "Neoteric Strange Attractor Mix." New to Spacetime's arsenal are the vocals performed by MC Girao, which appear in the two "Neoteric" mixes. "Pressure [Live]" is from the Summer 1997 Neoteric Festival in Japan. This track takes the opening song from Sea Biscuit and injects a drum'n'bass rhythm, resembling the best blend between intense rhythm and musical atmospheres that Spacetime has committed to disc. "Neoteric Strange Attractor Mix" is a high-energy dancefloor groove. The rhythm is a repetitive yet solid groove, using slices of voice samples extensively. "Freelon," only available on the U.K. import version, is the most abstract of the tracks on this EP, more closely resembling material from Sea Biscuit and rEmit rEcaps. This song offers a steady but subdued rhythm and a huge familiar ambient sound. The beats and synths pace their way to the end, where they diverge and drop out. ~ Brett Neely, All Music Guide
