Los Tigres del Norte

The title of this set translates as "most requested," and Los Tigres del Norte include a testimonial in the liner notes thanking their fans everywhere for years of handing little slips of paper up to the stage. (The collection's cover art depicts this very activity.) Las Mas Pedidas features 15 songs, including norteño classics that tell the tough stories ("Contrabando y Traición," "La Banda del Carro Rojo") and rich boleros ("Gema," the gorgeous "No Pude Enamorarme Más"). The set also includes a DVD with videos for "Jefe de Jefes," "El Celular," and more, a photo gallery, and discography. Las Mas Pedidas is a nice collection of songs, and fans will certainly enjoy the bonus video content. But many of the selections here are also available on the handful of Los Tigres best-ofs that Fonovisa Records has released since 2004. Longtime listeners will have to weigh whether they want to hear the "most requested" in one place, or any of the other places they already have these songs. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
