Baggie was back. Or at least it wasn't quite ready for the history books yet. With a bunch of the sound's original purveyors having re-formed, and that entire generation who grew up around them old enough to form their own bands, it looked like a full-scale resurrection might be on hand. Of course it wasn't (not yet, anyway), but still the criminally underrated Farm were ripe for reconsideration, and All Together Now: The Very Best of the Farm celebrates baggie at its best.
All but one of the band's hits are here, as well as a clutch of album tracks drawn from their chart-topping long-player Spartacus. Add a trio of remixes, and you've got a perfect crop of songs. Crossing over New Romanticism, new wave, and synth pop with techno's dance-friendly beats, the Farm weren't the most adventurous of the movement's practitioners, but they were certainly one of the most fun and infectious. Here's why. ~ Dave Thompson, All Music Guide
