Most of the music on BMG Special Products' Sweet Dreams: Pure Pop Collection may not fit the conventional definition of "pure pop," at least by record collector terms, who tend to label any descendant of the Beatles as pure pop. This ain't pure pop, at least by that definition. This is soft rock, pure and simple -- Tony Orlando's "Tie a Yellow Ribbon," Jim Croce's "I Got a Name," Mr. Mister's "Broken Wings," the Pointer Sisters' "Slow Hand," Air Supply's "Sweet Dreams," Nilsson's "Without You" and Eric Carmen's "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again," that sort of thing.
