Polygram Special Markets' Greatest Hits provides a fairly good overview of the Gap Band's early recordings for Mercury with such hits as "Shake," "Burn Rubber (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)," "Party Lights," "Yearning for Your Love," "Steppin' (Out)," "I Don't Believe You Want to Get Up and Dance (Oops, Up Side Your Head)," "Humpin'" and "Open Up Your Wind (Wide)." It may not contain blockbusters like "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" or "Early in the Morning," but it is a very good overview of the band's Mercury recordings, which makes it something more than the average budget-line collection. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
