On Revés/Yo Soy, the critically acclaimed Café Tacuba prove why they are among the pioneers of the "rock en español" movement. This double album includes the group's traditional and experimental sides, devoting a disc to each. Over the course of Yo Soy (the more song-based of the albums), the group weaves harp, piano, vibes, and accordion into 15 diversely textured pop songs. Zippy tracks like "La Locomotora" and "Bicicleta" keep company with languid, sunny songs like "El Rio" and "Arboles Frutales," while "Guerra" and "Dos Ninos" shift between those extremes. The more experimental Revés includes collaborations with the Kronos Quartet, ambient electronica, and musique concrète pieces. Though Revés/Yo Soy covers an extensive amount of musical territory, the album's depth is as impressive as its reach, and showcases Café Tacuba's inventive, engaging talent. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
