The ninth volume in the Prestige Profile series features saxophonist John Coltrane. While the majority of the disc compiles tracks from his albums for Prestige and its related labels, there are also a notable track, "The Way You Look Tonight," taken from Mal Waldron's second set for the label, entitled Mal-2. Other cuts come from Lush Life, Black Pearls, Standard Coltrane, and Dakar. All tracks have been remastered in 24 bit sound. In addition to this workman-like compilation, there is a bonus disc that includes tracks from other volumes in the series including "Four" form Miles Davis' Workin', "Paul's Pal" from Sonny Rollins' Tenor Madness, and "Cry-Tender" from Yusef Lateef. While this is in now way a definitive Coltrane volume, the price and the sound along with the bonus disc for a lower price point make it a worthwhile purchase. ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
