Whereas the extended version of "Bittersweet Symphony" adds even more strings and percussion to the already Phil Spector-ish density of the original, the moving "So Sister" supports Richard Ashcroft's plaintive vocals of missing love with only his acoustic guitar and Nick McCabe textures. The second B-side, "Echo Bass," rides along on a bass groove similar to "Gravity Grave" but with the tempo turned up and the space rock guitar of Verve's early psychedelic masterpiece replaced with a funk-vibe and wah-wah. ~ Brian Horgea, All Music Guide
