    All Music Guide Review

Runway Hits: Music from the Catwalk is supposed to sound like the music that models strut to at a fashion show, and to a certain extent it does. After all, stylish dance music makes for perfect music for modeling. However, Runway Hits is a bit all over the place and, more importantly, doesn't follow the utmost rule of fashion -- keep one step ahead of the crowd at all times. Instead, Runway Hits is filled with old dance and new wave hits from the '80s and it's damn hard to picture Kate Moss sashaying down the aisles to the Tubes' "She's a Beauty" or Samantha Fox's "I Wanna Have Some Fun." So, don't take Runway Hits as a fashion spectacular -- view it as a solid dance-oriented '80s/early '90s pop collection and you'll be fine, since it does contain a number of great singles, including Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy," the Bangles' "Walk Like an Egyptian," Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistible," Sheila E.'s "The Glamorous Life," ABC's "The Look of Love," En Vogue's "Free Your Mind," Animotion's "Obsession" and, of course, Sheena Easton's "Strut." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, Rovi
