    A budget-priced, limted-edition two-CD set, Sound:CHECK is a 23-track overview of the Sub Pop label's impressive release roster for the summer months of 1998. While listeners are heartily recommended to buy many of the original LPs which Sound:CHECK draws on -- the Spinanes' Arches and Aisles, the Jesus & Mary Chain's Munki and the Pernice Brothers' Overcome by Happiness chief among them -- this sampler is a worthwhile purchase in and of itself, also assembling many of the strongest tracks from weaker releases like the debuts from Heroic Doses and 10 Minute Warning. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
