After dissolving the Organ-izers, Odell Brown recorded Free Delivery, the first in a series of LPs featuring a who's who of Chicago soul greats like guitarist Phil Upchurch, bassist Louis Satterfield, and drummer Morris Jennings. The caliber of his collaborators spurs Brown to new heights here. His keyboard solos are lean and sinuous, dynamic but never flashy. At the same time, however, Free Delivery is his most overtly commercial outing to date.
