In 2008, the German Collision label released a "new" Dub Syndicate album titled Overdubbed, which collected 17 then-recent and slightly older tracks recorded under the supervision of drummer Style Scott (the sole remaining member of the legendary avant-dub ensemble) and remixed by DJ Rob Smith of Smith & Mighty. But this wasn't actually the first time the album had hit the market -- it was previously released as the first disc of The Rasta Far I, a two-disc set from 2006, which also includes a second disc of alternate takes, additional remixes, and other tracks from Dub Syndicate's growing post-On-U Sound catalog. This earlier issue is well worth seeking out; the second disc includes such brilliant fare as a gorgeous dub version of the Luciano vehicle "One in a Billion," a rock-hard alternate mix of the horticultural "Yes, It's Bless," and a marathon extended version of the Dub Syndicate rockers classic "Dubbing Is a Must." The 2008 release of Overdubbed may signal the deletion of The Rasta Far I, so Dub Syndicate fans and all lovers of postmodern reggae music should snap it up while they can. ~ Rick Anderson, All Music Guide
