Polygram's Ultimate Driving Collection rolls on with this entertaining country & western-themed mix. Kicking off appropriately with Roger Miller's velvety "King of the Road," the set moves through a clutch of the genre's most beloved road and drivin' songs. Highlights include C.W. McCall's "Convoy" ("Pigpen this here's Rubber Duck..."), a Dave Dudley version of "Six Days on the Road," and Hank Williams, Jr.'s bittersweet "Rainy Night in Georgia"; topping off the tank is lesser material from Tom T. Hall ("My Heroes Have Always Been Highways") and the Kendalls' "Four Wheel Drive." Countrywide Ride isn't necessarily a keeper, but it'll get you through that stretch of I-80 where radio doesn't reach. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
