    All Music Guide Review

The best of Geneva's earliest singles, Into the Blue is an engaging, sparkling slice of guitar pop that's not too far removed from the surge and sound of James, largely due to Andrew Montgomery's sweet vocals. The band itself has something of a rougher edge, though, so comparisons to Kitchens of Distinction aren't out of place either, and the whole is an enjoyable blast through Brit post-punk guitar styles. As for the B-sides, "Riverwatching" is fine enough, Montgomery really going to town on his falsetto while the acoustic/electric combination moves along in gentle fashion. "Land's End" comes across as more striking, a short tune with a dramatic mid-song break where everything cuts out for a pause -- Montgomery's voice then quickly returns, followed by the band. Not a deathless release, but it has some merits. ~ Ned Raggett, All Music Guide
