    All Music Guide Review

Swervedriver's 1995 single "Last Day on Earth" served as a taster for the band's upcoming epic Ejector Seat Reservation album. "Last Day on Earth" and "I Am Superman" are both highlights of that record. "Last Day on Earth" is a sweeping, majestic song that conjures up images of Phil Lynott fronting the Byrds with Martin Carr producing; "I Am Superman" is a strutting rocker that sounds like the Who if they were around during the shoegaze days. Don't get the idea that all these influences make the band copyists; they were brilliantly fusing their inspirations and creating the best music of their career. Any band that could farm songs as good as "Maelstrom" and "The Director's Cut of Your Life" -- two more magnificent, cinematic epics -- out to EPs is a band worth defending, collecting, and, most of all, hearing. Swervedriver fans should find this for the two non-LP tracks; everyone else should consider themselves lucky to find a second-hand copy of Ejector Seat. It ranks as one of the unheralded, almost lost classic records of the '90s. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
