All Music Guide Review

Rave Down is the second of three spectacular pre-Raise singles from Oxford's Swervedriver. As with just about any of the band's singles, the B-sides are anything but afterthoughts or gap fillers, rivaling and occasionally topping material found on the respective full-length album. The bulldozing, bass-driven, Dinosaur Jr.-meets-Stooges onslaught continues in fine form. The fiery assault of "Afterglow" is the best of the extra material on this one, an extra that would have made for one of the top tracks on Raise. As for the A-side, "Rave Down" is undeniably one of Swervedriver's all-time career highs, churning and chugging with that effortless flair they often possessed. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
