    All Music Guide Review

    At first glance, Elektra/Asylum's Maximum 80s looks like your average budget collection of "Mr. Roboto"s and "Come on Eileen"s, but further inspection reveals one of the weirder ten-song anthologies of the decade. FM staples like "Shake it Up" by the Cars and "Cars" by Gary Numan are par for the course, but hearing them alongside the late-'80s Pixies classic "Here Comes Your Man" and the totally out of place (but excellent) "Battleship Chains" by Skynyrd wanabees Georgia Satellites is just too odd to not tip your hat to. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
