Soccer, or football, is the biggest global sport, one that's popular throughout Africa, and this vaguely soccer-themed compilation really resembles most games -- good in parts. As with many sides, the disc has a few stars in Baaba Maal and Senegal's Cheikh Lo, while Amadou & Mariam and Ba Cissoko show themselves as the fast-rising, speedy talent. However, some of the material simply doesn't cut it, like "2000 Blacks Got to Be Free," or "Yaa Densoa," which sound stale, as does the remix of Alpha Blondy's "Cocody Rock." A collaboration between Richard Bona and John Legend never really takes off. What you're left with is a very fair charity compilation of Pan-African music, but, truth is, whatever the cause, there are much better ones available. ~ Chris Nickson, All Music Guide
