    All Music Guide Review

CEMA Special Markets' Rock of the '80s, Vol. 3 is a haphazard but quite enjoyable collection of new wave and post-punk hits from the early '80s. Most of the collection is devoted to new wave synth-pop from Talk Talk ("Talk Talk"), Kajagoogoo ("Too Shy"), Arcadia ("Election Day"), Thomas Dolby ("Europa and the Pirate Twins") and Naked Eyes ("Always Something There to Remind Me"), with both hard rock (Power Station's "Some Like It Hot") and post-punk (Gang of Four's "I Love a Man in Uniform") thrown in as ringers. That pair of songs may interrupt the flow of the album, but Sigue Sigue Sputnik's "Love Missile F1-110" and the Vapors' "Turning Japanese" fit right in, and the entire thing winds up as an entertaining listen, even if it is a bit of a hodgepodge. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
