    All Music Guide Review

    NFL Jams pairs professional football players with in-the-moment acts from the worlds of contemporary R&B, hip-hop, and their variants. It's mostly promotional, as guys like Ray Nealy, Andre Rison, and Michael Strahan wisely let their collaborators handle most of the music. That makes sense -- you don't see DJ Hurricane sitting in at middle linebacker, or Destiny's Child coming in on a nickel package. Highlights include GZA's "Chasing Dreams," "Burning Down the House" from Foxy Brown, and the smooth Dirty South flow of Eightball's "Do What a Playa Do" (featuring Andre Rison). The Quad City DJ's also stop by, trying to get a sweat going with the booty bass cut "Uh-Oh." Overall, NFL Jams is a pleasant enough ride. But there's really no excuse for the album-ending "We Are the World" ripoff "We're All in This Together," where everyone from Brownstone and 98° to Montell Jordan and tight end Frank Wycheck gang up on the cloying choruses. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
