The 1998 album 29 Nights is country singer and songwriter Danni Leigh's debut full-length offering. Her music isn't simply country; many numbers carry the flavor of hillbilly and good ol' honky tonk, like "If the Jukebox Took Teardrops" and "Beatin' My Head Against the Wall." Leigh had a hand in writing many of the songs on this album, but she had some pretty impressive help as well. The tune "Mixed up Mess of a Heart" happens to have been written by the country greats Merle Haggard and Tommy Collins, while track number eight, "Touch Me," was written by none other than the legendary Willie Nelson. Danni Leigh is a talented singer and she can carry off contemporary country music with no trouble at all, but it seems clear that her heart is most at home with more traditional country numbers with the expected fiddle and twang, like most of the ones fans can sample right here on her first album. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
