An Introduction to Jimmy Reed that doesn't include his Vee Jay-era standards -- "Baby, What You Want Me to Do," "Bright Lights, Big City," "Honest I Do," "You Don't Have to Go," "Going to New York," "Ain't That Lovin' You Baby" -- definitely isn't one! This material is culled from Reed's late-'60s recordings on ABC Bluesway, a period when his alcoholism and epilepsy caught up with him, naturally affecting the quality of his work. A bit of Reed's signature swamp blues via the Windy City sound manages to shine through occasionally, but in no way should these cuts be qualified as an introduction. ~ Al Campbell, All Music Guide
