The U.K.'s Suss'd label has been handling the Salsoul catalog with tremendous care for a few years, but the U.S.-based Bethlehem keeps cranking out Salsoul compilations -- such as this one -- that are inferior in just about every way, from presentation to all-around quality. Club Salsoul is mixed ably by Paul Simpson, and it rolls through modern remixes of many of the label's most familiar tracks, but if you want to be introduced to the label's output in the form of a DJ mix, just about any volume in the My Salsoul series is preferable, not to mention Salsoul 30th, or even Salsoul 30th: Encore. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
