John Signorello's Christmas CD seems to be his debut recording, a big band affair with a mix of swinging and mainstream pop (though uncredited) charts. His warm vocals are easygoing, and while Signorello isn't a groundbreaking risk-taker, he's always in tune and gives the instrumentalists plenty of solo space, while also giving them proper credit in the CD booklet. Most all of the tunes are obvious choices, excepting "My Favorite Things" (from The Sound of Music) which is rapidly becoming a favorite for Christmas albums, along with his cheerful original "Christmas Lullaby." Among the better known carols, the Latin setting of "Winter Wonderland" provides a touch of variety from the generally middle-of-the road charts. The backing vocals occasionally prove to be a bit saccharine, but Signorello's overall effort will likely be appreciated by those looking to add new music to their Christmas CD libraries. ~ Ken Dryden, All Music Guide
