All Music Guide Review
Offering 42 tracks from movies mostly released in the '90s, All Time Greatest Movie Songs does not live up to the title it was given. Despite the misleading claim, this is a fairly complete wrap-up of the most-commonly heard movie songs of that decade. A few movies with highly influential soundtracks are missing (nothing from Singles or Reality Bites, for example), several hit singles from movies are also not accounted for (too many to name, although Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven" and Bruce Springsteen's "Streets of Philadelphia" spring to mind), and most of these songs were previously hit singles in the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Still, these songs often bring to mind the movies they were taken from and the sheer volume of tracks is impressive. Ignore the title and All Time Greatest Movie Songs is a decent compilation that waxes nostalgic over a decade of filmmaking where movie songs became big business. [An American album with the same name has very little to do with this album outside of the similarly poorly chosen title.] ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
