Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Chris Squire, and Jon Anderson will forever be best known for their work with Yes -- after all, many would agree that the group was one of prog rock's originators. But all four have also issued quite a few solo albums on their own, which is where 2006's Yesstories: Group & Solo Tales comes in. A double-disc set weighing in at 22 tracks, the majority of the set is comprised of solo tracks from the aforementioned four members. And it turns out that "solo Yes" usually means new age-ish music, as evidenced by Rick Wakeman's "Merlin the Magician," Chris Squire's "Red Light Ahead," Jon Anderson's "The More You Know," and Steve Howe's "Suddenly." Not all the tracks here are obscurities, however, as several Yes classics reside here (in live form): "Owner of a Lonely Heart," "Roundabout," and "And You and I." Yesstories: Group & Solo Tales is a well-assembled collection of latter-day solo Yes. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
