It's hard to view Mia X as anything other than No Limit's answer to Foxy Brown and Lil' Kim. That may be because she's marketed that way, but the fact is, her music sounds like the No Limit variation of Foxy and Kim -- it's cheap, street-level music that panders to "gangsta" sensibilites. Mia X is a fairly talented rapper -- more talented than the average No Limit rapper -- but her gifts are obscured by the utterly flat production. Still, she and several of her collaborators, such as C-Murder, Fat Joe and Silkk the Shocker, are able to make a couple of the tracks work through sheer force, and those cuts ("Bring it On," "What's Ya Point," "Don't Blame Me," "Six Ed.," "Play Wit Pussy") are reason enough for diehard No Limit heads to check this out, even if it won't convince any doubters.
