    Dead Delites, Vol. 2 assembles eight renditions of songs either written by or long associated with the Grateful Dead, in most instances performed either by Dead associates or the band's Haight-Ashbury-era contemporaries. Highlights include Toni Brown's "Box of Rain," New Riders of the Purple Sage's "Friend of the Devil," and Tom Constanten's "We Bid You Goodnight," although casual listeners should seek out the original Dead recordings over these relatively pale substitutes. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
