Eubie Blake's final commercial release as a leader is a showcase for several singers: Mabel Lee, Mary Louise and singer/pianist Emme Kemp. The record emphasizes obscurities more than Eubie's Broadway hits. Highlights include Lee's sassy take of "You've Never Been Vamped By a Brownskin," and Louise's version of the unpublished Blake original "Strange What Love Will Do," and Kemp's self-accompanied romp through "My Handy Man Ain't Handy No More." Blake is far more than just window dressing, proving at 93 that he was still a very capable pianist, and he also contributes a warm vocal on the ballad "Loving You the Way I Do." This is another LP worth the extra effort to acquire. ~ Ken Dryden, All Music Guide
