    The title of Sony Music Special Products' Greatest Hits of the Eighties, Vol. 1 shouldn't be taken literally -- after all, there are no Prince singles featured on the collection, and he was certainly one of the biggest hitmakers of the era. Instead, it should be thought of as a random sampler of hits from Columbia and Epic artists. If you have those expectations, the disc will be quite enjoyable, since it contains such staples as "You're a Friend of Mine," "867-5309/Jenny," "Love My Way," "Rockit," "Total Eclipse of the Heart," "China," "All You Zombies," "Der Kommissar," "Birth, School, Work, Death," "A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing)" and "It's Raining Men," all of which are enough to make it worth its budget-line price. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
