The Lebrons, one of the finest and most enduring Latin-soul bands, continues to heap legitimacy upon the idiom in this late offering. From "La Envidia y la Tumba" on through to the end, En la Union is so embarrassingly good it's depressing; so much other Latin soul is seriously inferior. The conga, cowbell, and slightly hoarse voice of Pablo Lebron are all right up front, while the horns, piano, and chorus appropriately stick to providing texture. Consistent, unique, warm (almost folkloric like Arsenio Rodriguez), and beautifully recorded, the music of the Lebron brothers can be enjoyed from the first cut to the last, repeatedly. ~ Tony Wilds, All Music Guide
