The Shack, Vol. 2: Club Ska '99 is a fairly decent sampler, as it contains newly recorded material from a variety of the genre's innovators -- Derrick Morgan is present, and the Skatalites and Toots Hibbert team up on one track, while the reunited Selecter backs up Prince Buster on a new version of his perennial "Madness." Members of the English Beat, Specials, and Madness pop up as well (none with the original groups), while American ska stalwarts like the Toasters and Bim Skala Bim sit next to newer bands and German and Latino acts, among other international skanksters. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
