All Music Guide Review

While a ten-song collection doesn't really open up the complete mystery behind the pop success of Manfred Mann's Earth Band in the '60s and '70s, this ten-song set from Flashback featuring original recordings ultimately does a pretty fair job -- especially for the price. Spooky, popped-up arrangements of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light" and "Spirit in the Night" (which most listeners heard before they encountered Springsteen's version) are here, but so are Bob Dylan's "The Mighty Quinn (Quinn the Eskimo)" and "You Angel You," Joan Armatrading's "Visionary Mountains," and Manfred Mann's own haunting "Questions." ~ Thom Jurek, All Music Guide
