    All Music Guide Review

With Love or Lust, Adeva remained a well-respected figure in dance music circles thanks to such exuberant, heartfelt "deep house" as "I'm the One for You," "Don't Let It Show on Your Face," "Undercover Lover," and the anthemic "Independent Woman" -- all of which boast full-bodied, gospel-influenced wailing that underscores house's soul music roots. Adeva's version of "Respect" has demonstrated her impressive ability to transform a '60s soul classic into modern house, and this time, she interprets the Gladys Knight & the Pips hit "It Should Have Been Me" with equally impressive results. Adeva doesn't embrace very many ballads, but her soulful performance on "Until You Come Back" proves that she definitely should. While the song isn't all that remarkable, the emotion Adeva invests in it indicates that she has the potential to become a first-rate ballad singer. Like its predecessor, Love or Lust was generally ignored by black radio. Clearly, Adeva is someone who deserves to be heard outside of dance clubs. ~ Alex Henderson, All Music Guide
