A two-disc set that provides a disc each from the Bar Kays and Kool & the Gang, this would be a pretty cool dance party in a box if these were the singles and sides the two bands originally released, but it is instead an all-live anthology. Both groups are solidly professional and it isn't that hits like "Soul Finger" and "Too Hot to Stop" (the Bar Kays) and "Get Down on It" (Kool & the Gang) aren't energetic enough, but somehow it all feels just a little bit tired. ~ Steve Leggett, All Music Guide
