    Very Best of the Clancy Brothers: Classic Folk, Rebel and Drinking Songs collects 29 cuts culled from the legendary Irish folk outfit's three albums for the Tradition label, Rising of the Moon: Irish Songs of Rebellion, Come Fill Your Glass with Us, and Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem. Clancy Brothers classics such as "Jug of Punch," "Finnegan's Wake," and "Johnny I Hardly Knew You" take center stage, rounded out by Tommy Makem-led pieces like "Maid of the Sweet Brown Knowe" and "Johnny McEldoo." This is by no means a definitive collection, and the full albums themselves offer more rewards, but truth be told, there's not a bad track to be found here. ~ James Christopher Monger, All Music Guide
