The debut full-length from this Chicago three-piece is hands down the perfect listening in the wake of a broken heart. Featuring ex-members of 88 Fingers Louie and Slapstick, Alkaline Trio combine harsh, emotion-filled pop-punk with sappy, heartfelt lyrics that don't go beyond the point of corniness. Crowd pleasers such as "San Francisco," "Message from Kathlene," and "Clavicle" define the trio's sound of catchy pop riffs and the occasional harmonies while having enough energy and pickup to take out the aggressions of anyone's bad day. In the same package, acoustic-filled angst such as "Enjoy Your Day" and "Sorry About That" can push the right buttons to appeal to any hard guy's sensitive side. It's rare that a band such as Alkaline Trio can make love songs appealing without being labeled as "wimpy" or "generic," and Goddamnit! is the record to erase those labels. Goddamnit (CD/DVD) Notes
from Asian Man Records: In the summer of 1998, one of the most influential punk albums (Goddamnit) was recorded by a little ol' band from Chicago called the ALKALINE TRIO. Costing only $900 over a course of 5 days, this album went on to sell over 200,000 records globally. Ten years later we bring you the extensive rerelease of this classic album. Most rereleases offer the basic remastered + bonus photos/liner notes type of deal, but this reissue has been a 3 year long process that's been given the royal treatment. Completely remixed, remastered, new digipak artwork with two metallic foil inks on the cover, twelve-page booklet with rare photos/liner notes, and a two-hour documentary DVD featuring all original members. Interviews include Matt Skiba, Dan Andriano, and Glenn Porter from the ALKALINE TRIO, Brendan Kelly (LAWRENCE ARMS), Matt Allison (Atlas Studios), Heather Hannoura (Artist/Roadie), and Mike Park (Asian Man Records). The DVD takes you through the story of the bands creation through the eyes of all the major players who were involved in the genesis of the band. It also includes the entire Goddamnit album performed by the original band and then again by the current lineup.
Included on the CD are the first 4 songs the band ever recorded. They have also been remixed and remastered.
