Bluebird Review

In the four years since contemporary folk singer/songwriter Randall Goodgame's last solo album, War And Peace, was released, the artist has busied himself with a number of projects. After spending some time with his inner-child by penning a number of children's tunes, including a handful for the animated hit Veggie Tales, Goodgame has refocused his attention towards his adult audience with six songs worth of uplifting piano balladry.

Bluebird is one those discs that would make the perfect soundtrack to a sunny, mid-Spring Sunday morning. The unobtrusive air that permeates from the disc sets a perfectly relaxing mood that allows the listener to be caught up by Goodgame’s refreshing melodies and instantly gratifying hooks. The folksy title track and climactically lush "California" come across as more natural fits to Randall's laidback songwriting style than the quasi-blues, organ-driven "Reverie" and "Jubilee," but the cheer is spread evenly nonetheless. For a brief, yet fulfilling spiritual and aural revitalization to get yourself back in the game, look to Randall Goodgame.
