If you are sick to death with ring-tone and boasting-bling rap that dominates mainstream hip hop then you'll find "The Golden B-Boys" rather refreshing. DJ Ralph M's production is a throwback to the early 90's - late 80's hip hop which compliments Son Doobie's manic rhyme style. However, this album has it's weak points. Tomahawk Funk returns and sadly his presence does not make an impact in fact, his lyrics are lame to say the lease "We Bring That" falls off the cliff, and unfortunately the album lacks focus and structure. The opening track "The Madness of the Hour" is a very dark horror-like offering similar to the interludes by Funkdoobiest's mentor DJ Muggs, followed by "Changes" a moody track that flows well with the intro. Then things get rather confusing yet catchy. "Let Em Know" and "The Heavyweight Funk" sport heavy bass and bangin' drum loops well complimented by Son Doobie's manic rhyme style. "Who Got More," "Bubble Butts" and "93 Inc," are very bland and forgettable. To sum this album up if you are a Funkdoobiest fan then i recommend you get this album, Son Doobie saves it from falling off!
